Laboratory platform named as the Institute’s immediate scientific priority
The laboratories are designed and sequenced. Facilities, equipment and analytical staffing remain the investment that would most rapidly extend scientific capability.
The Institute’s laboratories are not yet operational. The platform has been designed and its structure, functions and priority order established, beginning with marine biology and fisheries biology, which serve the stock assessment function directly.
No analytical service is offered or performed at present. Until commissioning, work requiring laboratory analysis is undertaken through partner and external laboratories where a programme requires it.
Partner and donor investment in this platform is the single intervention that would most rapidly extend the Institute’s scientific capability.
